That's the first question you should ask yourself before choosing the DCV100 Sectional Directional Valve Flexible Sections.

Many machines ship with a DCV60 - 60 L/min of flow. It's enough when the machine leaves the factory. But then things change. You add an attachment - flow demand goes up. You swap to a larger cylinder - demand goes up. Operating conditions get tougher - demand goes up.

Question 2: Have you added attachments recently?

Every hydraulic attachment needs flow. One attachment might only need 10-15 L/min, but it adds up. If the machine was spec'd with a DCV60 and you've added attachments, the flow may no longer be sufficient.

This is the one most people overlook. 60 L/min might be enough today. But what about next year? Machine upgrades, new functions, heavier duty cycles - all of these increase flow demand.

 

Sectional vs monoblock - what you need to know

The difference between sectional and monoblock comes down to one thing: flexibility.

A monoblock valve is a single cast iron piece. Fixed sections. If you need one more function later, you replace the whole valve. High cost, long downtime.

A sectional valve is built from individual sections bolted together. Need another function? Add a section. One section fails? Replace that one. No need to replace the whole valve.

The DCV100 is sectional. If your machine's functions change over time, sectional is the better choice.

 

How to know you need 100 L/min

Calculate your system's maximum flow requirement, then add a margin. If your calculation is close to 60 L/min, choose the DCV100. The extra flow gives you margin - room for your machine to grow.

Installation notes

Assembly matters. Sections are held together by tie rods. Torque them evenly and in sequence. Uneven tightening distorts the bodies - spools bind, internal leakage increases, the valve doesn't work right.

Adding sections. Order the extra section, bolt it on, connect the plumbing. No need to replace the whole valve. This is the main advantage of sectional over monoblock.

Port connections. Standard hydraulic ports. Make sure your fittings match.

Maintenance. If one section fails, replace that section. The rest stay in place.
