Who This Valve Is For

The SD5 is a monoblock valve. That means the body is one piece of cast iron - not sections bolted together. All the internal passages are machined directly into that single block.

Some people prefer monoblock for smaller equipment. The reasons vary. Some want fewer potential leak paths. Some are tight on space. Some just like the simplicity of one solid piece.

The flow rating is 45 L/min at 250 bar. It's available with 1 to 12 sections, but the configuration is fixed at the factory - the number of sections you order is what you get. If you need to add functions later, you'd be better off with a sectional valve.

For equipment requiring this flow and pressure range, the SD5 - 45 L/min Manual Monoblock Directional Valve offers straightforward, dependable control.

A Few Things Worth Understanding

Flow - 45 L/min at 250 bar

45 L/min nominal flow. 250 bar operating pressure.

Leakage - 15 cc/min at 160 bar

The SD5 uses the same internal leakage spec as the larger DCV valves. The spool-to-bore clearance is held to the same standard.

Surface Treatment

Phosphating. It's a chemical conversion coating, not paint. Passes 48-hour salt spray.

The SD5 - 45 L/min Manual Monoblock Directional Valve is built simple and solid.

SD5 manual hydraulic control valve

How It Works

Push the lever. The spool moves. Oil reroutes. The cylinder moves. Let go, the spool springs back.

Move the lever.

Spool shifts.

Oil changes direction.

Cylinder moves.

No electronics. No programming. Direct mechanical control.

The monoblock construction means the entire valve is one piece. An inlet with P and T ports. Working sections machined into the same block - each with spool, springs, and detent. Lever connects directly to the spool.

1 to 12 sections in a single solid casting.

About the Company

Shijiazhuang Laiye Import & Export Trading Co., Ltd. is part of Hebei Wendefu Hydraulic Technology Co., Ltd. We are a manufacturing company.

We've been at this since 1988 - over 35 years in hydraulic components. The team numbers around 200 people. Some of our senior engineers have been with us for over twenty years. They've seen a lot of valve designs come and go. They know what holds up and what doesn't.

We do everything in-house. Machining, assembly, testing - all under one roof. The casting work is done by foundries we've worked with for decades. Then we take over: machine the bores, grind the spools, assemble, test, treat the surface, pack and ship. When a valve gets tested here, it's tested individually. Not a sample from the batch. Every single one. The test data stays on file with the serial number.

If a customer asks for a material certificate or a test report, we can provide it. If they want to see the factory, we can arrange a visit. We don't hide behind emails.

Production Process

Raw Material Inspection

Steel and iron castings are inspected upon arrival. Each batch undergoes spectral analysis for material composition and internal defect inspection. Non-conforming materials are rejected and returned.

Precision Machining

Valve bodies are machined on CNC machining centers. For a monoblock valve, the entire body is one piece of cast iron - all internal passages and working bores are machined in this single setup. Tolerances are held to microns to ensure proper spool-to-bore fit.

Heat Treatment

Machined bodies undergo heat treatment to relieve internal stress, stabilize the material structure, and improve wear resistance and dimensional stability. Process parameters are strictly controlled based on material grade and product requirements.

Surface Treatment

Valve bodies are phosphated. This is a chemical conversion coating, not paint. It bonds with the metal and does not peel off when knocked. The surface holds a thin layer of rust-preventive oil after treatment.

Assembly

Assembly takes place in a clean workshop. Seals are from reputable brands. Through-bolts are torqued to specification and marked. Operator information is recorded for traceability.

Pressure Testing

Every valve is individually tested - not spot-checked. Test items include neutral position internal leakage, pressure drop across each section, lever operating force curve, and external leakage. Test data is filed with the serial number for future traceability.

Final Inspection

Final inspection confirms that product appearance, marking, and packaging meet requirements. Qualified units go to inventory. Non-conforming units are segregated and processed accordingly.

FAQ

Q: The pressure rating is 250 bar. Is that enough for my application?

A: Most compact equipment runs comfortably at 250 bar or less. Forklift masts, small loader lift arms, and agricultural implements typically operate in the 180-220 bar range.

Q: How do I know which section configuration I need?

A: Count the number of hydraulic functions your machine has. Each cylinder or motor that needs independent control requires one section. If you're not sure, send us your machine specifications and we'll help you figure it out.

Q: Are monoblock valves more reliable than sectional valves?

A: They have fewer potential leak paths, which some users see as a reliability advantage. But reliability depends more on build quality and oil cleanliness than on valve type. Both monoblock and sectional valves are reliable when properly made and maintained.

Q: Can the SD5 - 45 L/min Manual Monoblock Directional Valve be mounted in any orientation?

A: Yes, it works in any orientation. But horizontal mounting with the lever facing up is recommended for the best lever feel and longest spring life.

Q: How do I check if the valve is leaking internally?

A: The most common sign is a cylinder that drifts when the valve is in neutral. If your lift arm slowly drops or your tilt cylinder creeps, the spool-to-bore clearance may have increased due to wear or contamination. We can test the valve at our facility to confirm.

Q: Can I get a different lever shape or length?

A: Yes. Standard lever is a straight metal rod. For OEM customers, we offer custom lever shapes, lengths, and handle grips. Minimum quantity applies.
